As some of you have noticed and mentioned on this blog, we’ve made some changes to our Pay As You Go pricing that will be effective as of April.
This year at 3 we want to make sure that we give our PAYG customers a solid all round deal that’s the best value for using the internet on your phone, as well as bringing our tariffs more in-line with the market.
Here’s a quick summary of the changes:
From now:
• Completely free Twitter for all of our customers, without you even needing to top-up
From April 2nd:
• Market leading international rates for 12 countries – prices to be confirmed shortly
• Completely free 0.facebook.com for all our customers, again without needing to top-up
From April 22nd:
• Voicemail – 15p per minute
• Calls to other mobiles and landlines for 3Pay – 25p per minute
• Picture messages – 30p
• International calling bands – increase of 5p per band
• Whilst in the EU making a call within Band1 – 38p
• Answering a call in band 1 – 99p, and in Band 2 – £1.25
• 084/087 numbers – 20p per min/call or both depending on the number
Some of above might feel like we’re taking things away and charging for things that were previously free or cheaper, I won’t argue with you there. But in making our pricing more competitive through these changes, we can offer value in other areas.
As part of that extra value, and to balance the increases, we’ve introduced completely free and unlimited Twitter for all customers. And from early April, 0.facebook.com will also be free, without the need to ever top-up. You also get Skype and WLM without even topping up, which I’m sure many of you already know about.
That’s what many of you are telling us you want.
As well as this, we’re still the only network that gives you free 3-3 minutes, texts and internet with every top-up, not just a combination of one or two of those like some of our competitors.
You’ll get those rewards as soon as you top-up too, you won’t have to wait a month like some networks.
And we’re still the only network where your rewards last for 90 days, even when you’ve run out of credit. The market standard is 30 days.
You can take a look at the below to see how we stack up versus the competition:

If we could, we’d make it all free or best value – but in reality, that’s not always possible. Getting the mix of what the majority of our customers want, and balancing that with what we can do as a business will always be a challenge. Having said that, we think our Pay As You Go package is still strong overall.
We’re doing the best we can to give you competitive and good value pricing on the things you want, in the way that we can best afford to.

Twitter does not work if you have no credit. i have found this to be a sneaky policy on behalf of three where they only allow you to browse twitter if you topup and slowly drain your credit. Then i called their call centre in India who thought i was stupid and tried to blame it on a technical error when in actual fact the service is not really available if you do not have credit. I will be changing networks next month thats for sure to O2.
Hey there, theres a new windows live messenger nd i cant seem to be able to download it what should i do thanks
@Amir Mirza – 0.facebook.com, zero.facebook.com and o.facebook.com are all free access links, but if you want to look at photos or external web links to the sites then there will be a notification regarding extra charges. Up to this point, you will not be charged for accessing Facebook Zero. I hope this helps!
Good to hear its up!
When I try to access the site im told to turn my internet access on in My3. I took internet access off in my settings to prevent me accidentally browsing and having to pay for it. If I turn internet access back on for my My3 account, will 0.facebook.com definately be free for me to use? I dont want to be charged for browsing it.
Many thanks!
@Roxy @Natasha @Bob @Stew and all awaiting Facebook.0 – It has now gone live ready for you to access this free Facebook text based service. Really sorry it took longer than planned but we hope you all enjoy using this service!
We’ll blog next week about Facebook…
@Natasha – We thought it’d be released today too and we’re really sorry it’s not quite ready but it will only be a few more days at the most.
I thought fb zero would be released today not at the end of the week its been ages 5 months those 5 months were for you to sort it out not extend the release date!!!!!!whens the latest it will be released????
@Roxy – We’re in the UK, honest! Our product team is just really keen to make sure that all possible bugs and niggles are ironed out. We hope to have it out very, very soon. You’ll definitely have it by the end of the week.
Which time zone you are in Moderator?
it’s 8th Sept in the UK now. and I am still getting “0.facebook.com is coming soon, We’re sorry that 0.facebook.com isn’t available yet.”
it’s been over 5 months, and I’m getting fed up!
@Mands – sincere apologies for this. We do our very best to keep our word when we promise to call customers back, but I’m really sorry that we’ve let you down on this occassion. I’d like to get this looked into on your behalf.. I’ll drop you an email.
I have to say that the callback service from 3 is appalling. I had an email from 3 after submitting a complaint on Blog in July and then a phone call from ‘Patrick’ from customer services on 4 Aug. He assured me that he would look in to my complaint and call me back in a ‘couple of days’ – well I’m still waiting for my return phone call. I have now decided that when my contract expires (my daughter and husband) I will NOT be renewing it with 3, unless they cna offer me an incentive to stay.
Have u released it yet???
Thanks for the speedy response, very eager for today haha. I havent been able to connect to the network, mobile site and my texts wont go through – I’m hoping this is good news, in hope that it is related to the release of Facebook Zero!
@Amir Mirza – I hope so too!
I have no reason to believe it won’t be Amir…
I hope you mean it when you say facebook zero is going to be availible tomorrow mr. moderator.
Been waiting since April. Will be looking forward to it being hyped up – if it is indeed released tomorrow, it deserves its own blog post.
Ok
@Anisa – As this isn’t a common problem the team will need to check your individual account. If you don’t respond to my email, they can’t do that.
Hey there again, what are they exactly going to do about it?????
@Anisa – I sent you an email on the 19th August but I never received a response from you. I’ll resend.
Hey there,TWITTER STILL DOESNT WORK!!!!!are you going to do something about it or not i’ve waited 2 weeks already!!!!
@Anonymous – I’ve just heard that Twitter seems to have been having a few technical problems over the last couple of days – hopefully it’ll all be sorted soon! Can you check in again with us on Tuesday if things don’t resolve themselves?
Seems good and I’ve tried in a few different areas, I can access Twitter and browse but just not sign in. Any ideas ?
@Anonymous – how’s your 3G coverage? Are you in a strong area?
Having the same problem as Anisa, when i go on Twitter it doesn’t let me sign in, it always says unable to connect or connection failed
@Bobby – Thanks for your feedback but it isn’t ready now, and I’m sure people would rather it was ready and working
@Randy – We hope so too!
Hey,Why can’t you release facebook zero now than on 8th september ????it would be better people are getting annoyed that it’s not working!!!
Hope facebook zero works this time not like before it worked for some people and not others hope those 4 months pay off this time!!!!!!
@Roxy – Sorry for the delay! It will be with you on September 8th.
