New phones are coming through thick and fast – this is the last one we’re going to announce this week, I promise! I’ve been really excited about the launch of this flagship Android Smartphone from the HTC range – it’s the Desire HD.

The Desire HD has all the high-end features of its older brother, the award winning HTC Desire. It’s got an amazing 71 widgets so there’s plenty to do on the phone.

Its enormous 4.3” screen is the biggest in the HTC range (and one of the biggest I’ve ever seen!) and it’s one of the first phones to feature the latest version of Android’s operating system – 2.2 or Froyo – straight from the box.

Plus it’s got an 8 megapixel camera for really crisp pictures and HD video footage.

One of the new applications on the phone is the HTC Hub which gives you free ringtones, themes and widgets so that you can customise your phone. It also features HTC Like which helps you to pick your way through the 1000s of apps from Android Market.

One of my favourite features is HTCSense.com. It lets you back up and manage your phone even when you’re nowhere near it. And if your life is on your Smartphone like mine is, its great peace of mind! You just need to go to HTCsense.com to sign up.

Here’s my last video of the week – let us know what you think:

@Despot – All approved our end and we’re just waiting for it to go live now… Software updates are released to the networks at different times, which can explain the time difference.

    Hi all

@Simon – Just checked and I don’t have any details for you on the next Desire S update. We will let everyone know if and when it happens.

  9. Simon on July 29, 2011

Hello. Is there any chance we can get the next update for Gingerbread? Android 2.3.4 specifically.

I currently have 2.3.3 On My Desire HD with the three network.

I’m hoping the new version will fix some UI issues i’m having. One of them being text messages I’ve sent in reply are placed above the message I replied too. A simple thing to test for i would assume but anyway i digress… An update would be nice.

@brutus – Thanks for the update. If anyone else would like to read this statement from HTC, you can find it on their Facebook page. Regarding this update from Three, we don’t have any news on when this update will be released just yet. But we will keep everyone updated.

any further news on the 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Desire??? been checking every day and still no update.
starting to get very frustrated by the lack of info regarding this and i am seriously considering rooting to the base android build rather than have to endure more excuses

Finally! Back to the love hate relationship that is Android! Untill the next reset!

  16. mat on June 29, 2011

Really! Another factory reset! Thats 3 now. fantastic! Should have stayed with Apple.

  17. Simon on June 29, 2011

Strange… It worked for me. Loving this update, app menu is much better and dare i say… battery life is longer!!

For those that had to enable usb debugging to stup the cpu ramping up, that bug has been fixed too. GOOD GOOD.

  18. Moderator: Sedge on June 29, 2011

@ Mat – Sorry to hear you’re getting a corrupt message. Have you tried a factory reset on your phone?

  19. mat on June 29, 2011

Just tried to download the update 3 time and it says the file is corrupt. An extra month to fix issues and it still doesn’t work! not happy! It’s getting harder to recommend three to friends.
