So you did drop the initial outlay down to that of orange/t-mobile – if only you had announced it!!!!

@Ryan o – Afraid I can’t give you any more details about the ipad just yet. You can refer back to Three.co.uk for further announcements or keep an eye out for more posts on the 3 blog. Sorry I can’t be of more help at the moment. Regards Mod :-)

Thinking of getting a mifi dongle, should I hold off until I can have this bundled with an ipad and then run iphone et al off this?

Roughly how long will I have to wait for this as I would like the MIFI now but not if I will need another deal for the iPad?

  4. TheWillT on November 30, 2010

Please don’t drag out the “soon”s as long as you did with iPhone 4! Santa really needs to know ASAP ;-)

@Lee – Timings will be confirmed very soon :-)

  6. lee on November 30, 2010

will this be available before christmas??

  7. James on November 29, 2010

I hope your offer will trounce Orange’s – working out there £27 a month plan against buying the iPad and adding your £7.50 plan (addmittedly only 1GB a month compared to their wifi and 2GBish plan) it works out cheaper to buy the iPad out right!

  8. Tim C on November 29, 2010

@Gary. Yes I can see Apple’s logic behind this one, although they aren’t meant to be worried about the Galaxy Tab. I have an iPad and I have to admit I’m using it an aweful lot. I had my wife saying the usual “what’s the point? Why do you need one of those?” The usual wifey comments but she started using it and the Apple bug has bitten her and now she wants one. The only problem with these announcements is the timing. If this would of been offered at launch then they would of sold an absolute bucket load on top of the bucket load they already have.

wow, this is great news. I hope it happens soon as my mobile broadband contract finishes on the 6th of Jan

  10. simbr on November 27, 2010

I already have a 3 MiFi which I used for my iTouch and laptop. Since iPads don’t support tethering, is there any option to run an iPad and a MiFi off the same contract to avoid paying for two contacts?
The Galaxy Tab has mobile AP built-in, but it just isn’t as slick as an iPad nor does it have all the apps.

@Tim, I believe Apple are allowing this now to combat the fact the samsung galaxy tab can be purchased alot more easily than the iPad, I have to admit never of these devices tempt me, still waiting to see a meego tablet.

  12. Tim C on November 26, 2010

Even so, getting the current iPad now and locking yourself into an 18/24 contract I don’t think is very wise when at best it will be replaced in 6 months time tops.

Any speculation about the iPad 2 is just that at the moment. Apple have said nothing on the subject. The chances are, given Apple’s yearly update product cycles with iDevices, that we’ll see an iPad 2 launch at around the same time, ie April/May 2011. Until we hear from Apple it’s all rumours. And there’s not a chance, I don’t think, that we’ll see an actual launch less than a year after the original, in February. We might get an announcemnt in advance as happened in January this year for an April launch but the actual launch won’t be until at least a year after the first.

@phil – Unfortunately we can’t provide you with any more information just yet. There will be further announcements shorty. Cheers Mod.

  15. Tim C on November 25, 2010

The iPad version 2 is due out in February. I think I will hold out for that as I currently have an iPad and was looking at getting my wife one on a 3g package.

  16. Will on November 25, 2010

    @Mod Ho Ho Ho! ;-)

  17. phil on November 25, 2010

Will you be offering it like a laptop/mifi deal or ipod touch/mifi deal?

I don’t really want the 3g version, the wifi version would suit me better.

  18. mark on November 25, 2010

great to hear that 3 are gonna step up the competition with the ipad, i really am looking forward to seeing what plans are on offer and i might just be tempted
( i wont tell my partner because she will want her own ipad) :)

  21. Gareth on November 25, 2010

  22. TheWillT on November 25, 2010

Woohoo! Good news indeed if the price is right …any chance you can try and convince my wife I “genuinely need” one? ;-)
