This year has been an exciting one here at Three. We’ve seen the launch of some great phones like the iPhone4 and the HTC Desire HD to name but few, and our blog also recently celebrated its first birthday. So to celebrate the end of a great year we’re hosting our own awards.
The Three Blog Awards is a first for us so we’re intrigued to see who’ll come out on top. We want to know who’s stood out for you this year. Which gadget has floated your boat? Which guest blogger has caught your attention? And which social media event has got you hitting the ‘share’ button?
Vote with your mouse and have your say, and don’t forget to leave us a comment to tell us about how you reached your decision.
Today we’ve launched four different polls which will be live for a week; you’ll find them to the right hand side of this post. Everyone that votes is also in with a chance of winning whichever device is crowned ‘Mobile Gadget of the Year’ by our readers!
After all the votes have been counted and verified we’ll be presenting the awards to the winners of each poll so keep an eye on the blog to see who comes out on top.

The iPhone set the standard, then the HTC desire smashed it into next week, Android is awesome, angry birds is free, 2 year warranty, itunes is just a bit ‘last year’ , just had my friend ask of I could turn on my desires WiFi hotspot so he could download rayman2 on his iPhone4. The HTC desire gets my vote.
@Dean Mason – Sorry, I don’t understand this post. Please can you confirm the issue you have. Regards Mod
MiFi – Easy. I have multiple gadgets, and a MiFi makes it easy to connect to the net at the same time with low expense.
Abul Hussain – A great blogger, one whose opinions I value a lot.
Angry Birds – It was either this or Spotify. Spotify would have clinched it if it wasn’t exclusive to Premium account (and had Last.fm support). Angry Birds is great value gaming on the go.
RATM vs X-Factor – Anything that pisses off Simon Cowell is a win in my books.
The iPhone set the standards, reinvented the smartphone, others now follow. The 4 is simply a great phone,
I really wanted to vote for Pollyanna but that’s too predictable (!) so Mark got my vote.
What can you say about Angry Birds, fantastic! Doesn’t hurt the brain and have you seen the new Christmas one, brill, turns levels into an advent calendar. As far as the last question is concerned, hoping for another X-Factor beating, but from who? Where is Sir Cliff when you need him?!

High of the year? Jon & Tracy Morter’s Rage campaign HAS to win it. It was an amazing piece of campaigning and really showed the world how to gauge a crowd properly. You can tell it was that good by the hundreds of others trying it again this year. None will work of course (well, maybe the Surfin’ Bird one might) because as Paul McCartney once said about re-forming The Beatles in 1977, “you can’t re=heat a Soufflé”
Best app? ANGRY BIRDS!!!
It’s got to be Rage Against The Machine for social media high – it’s still staggering to think that a social media campaign caused a single that wasn’t available in the shops to put Cowell, St. Cheryl and ITV in their places and to capture so much mainstream attention. And besides – I’m amused at the thought of 3 trying to present them with an award!!!
By the way, how do you know who has voted so you can put them in the draw to win the gadget of the year?
Done my votes…
Mobile Gadget – iPhone 4 as I have tried most of the others (aside from MiFi) and it just does what I need it to do reliably and with little fuss.
Guest Blogger – Pollyanna Woodward for her work with the Three tour bus, showing people how easy it is to get online.
Best App – Spotify mainly because it’s the only app aside from Angry Birds which I use the most.
Social Media High – Tim Burton for his use of crowd sourcing.
It was a hard choice for me, the HTC Desire HD looks and sounds amazing – and I have the HTC Desire on 3 and I love it, so it’s big brother has to be amazing right?
I also have a MiFi on 3 which is also amazing but has a tendency to crash after several hours use (while plugged in) but was still a life saver on holiday. In the end though I had to vote for the HTC Desire HD because well I want to win it lol.
@ J Nathan Matias- Unfortunately not at the moment. We’re looking in to getting it on mobile. Sorry.
For some reason, I can’t see the poll from my Android. How can mobile users vote?
Thanks
@ Ibrahim Gucukoglu – Sorry. I’m not sure how we manged to miss your comment. I shall send you an email now.
Hi Mod. I posted this in your Guest Review for N8 article, but as yet have had not a word from you in response from you, so I’ll post my question here in case you missed it.
Hi Mod. Sorry to bother you yet again but I have a small problem. I recently bought an E5 on payg as a spare phone should my brand new IPhone hit the deck for any reason, and this morning decided to get it unlocked. I got an unlocking code, inserted a Three sim and tried in vein to unlock the phone, entering the code three times. OK, call me stupid, but the sensible thing I did do was take it streight away to a Nokia service point who have taken it in to unlock using tools and teqniques I dont understand. Trouble is, I’m convinced the code I was given was incorrect. I wrote it down and repeated it back to the CS agent who confirmed it was the correct code, yet when I rang up to complain earlier they weren’t interested in refunding me, instead pointing me to their repairs procedure. Since I prefer to deal with local businesses for repairs because of the shorter time frame (I can pick up my phone tomorrow) should I be liable for the £15 fee I was charged for this code?
Since posting this I have now got my phone unlocked at a Nokia service point, it cost me £35 and they used a cable and some software, apparently its called BB5 unlocking whatever that is.
@ Stew- Good question. I’ll take a look at this. Thanks for pointing it out.
@ Alan Erasmus Fontaine- I love this!
The RAGE Xmas campaign doesn’t deserve the ‘Social media high of the year’ award…because IT DESERVES SOCIAL MEDIA HIGH OF THE CENTURY! Has there been a better social media high than that? No
Is the poll only viewable on a computer? I can’t see it on my phone
Wot no Omnia 7?
If memory serves a better phone by most reviews than the N8… (which isn’t to say that it would necessarily have got my vote!)
Not qualified to vote in the other three (-:
Mostly easy votes for me…
iPhone4 = only one on the list I’ve used so far
Pollyanna Woodard = Simply a fantastic name!
Spotify = Was torn between this and Angry Birds but Spotify has enabled me to listen to a lot of music I’d be too embarrassed to buy in a shop …and NO I’m not telling you what!
Rage Against The Machine = Yay, smash the system! Anything to see Simon Cowell’s grumpy face!
