The LG Optimus 3D has been reported on widely by blogs and websites, and you might have already guessed (if you’re a regular Twitter follower of ours) that we’ll be ranging it. We loved LG’s teaser videos – we couldn’t tweet about them. All credit to tech news site Pocket Lint who picked up the story first, but I for one am relived that we can finally confirm that’s coming soon to Three.

Optimus 3D is the first phone that offers a full 3D mobile experience. 3D glasses are not needed on this 4.3 inch stereoscopic screen. It comes enabled with a Dualcore processor which enables a first class multimedia experience.

One of the really exciting things about the Optimus 3D is that it comes with not just one, but two 5MP cameras. Having two cameras allows you to choose between shooting in HD, 3D and 2D, so you can create your own videos and upload them to YouTube 3D.

The fact that this is a 3D smartphone makes it exciting, but even without the 3D, it’s still one of 2011’s most impressive phones. Plus I love how well the Optimus 3D works with Google; the experience is fantastic. You can watch YouTube clips, play games and watch movies all in 3D. It has a three screen support function which allows you to watch videos on your TV through your phone. You can download 3D games and videos from Android Market – perfect for those of you who are on The One Plan with all–you–can-eat data as you’ll never have to worry about how much it’s going to cost you.

  4. Emmy Vigo on June 8, 2011

I would like to know if 3 is going to market this product. I already have an account with 3, I want to give one to my husband, but I did not want to go to another company!!!!

@Julie r – We don’t have any plans to range this device but we’re always reviewing our options. Keep an eye on our coming soon pages.

    Hello,

SLightly unrelated but does three have any plans to market the LG Optimus 2x?

    Thanks x

  7. Moderator: Sedge on May 18, 2011

@ Campus – It’ll be coming in June. I can’t confirm the pricing at this stage I’m afraid.

  8. campus on May 18, 2011

    When?

    How much?

    Please..

@Rich – Ah glad you like it :) We don’t have any plans to range the 2X though…

Since Three is now getting the latest phones now, can you please get the following too before my upgrade! http://phandroid.com/2011/02/16/nvidia-quad-core-android-tablet-codenamed-kal-el-video/ looks powerful enough to get rid of my laptop. Would be great on tablet when released in august and phones in a couple more months. Looking at this august doesn’t look that far off now. If only battery technology could develop as fast!

  11. Rich on February 16, 2011

Looks sweet! Do you know if 3 will be stocking the LG Optimus 2X also?

  12. Moderator: Kaz on February 16, 2011

@vinay – I’m afraid all upgrade are handled on a case by case basis so a on-line calculator would not be possible.

  13. vinay on February 16, 2011

This link http://www.anandtech.com/show/4179/ti-omap4-and-lg-optimus-3d-tested might interest a few people. It shows comparison tests of the new phones with various new processors. Looking at it, it looks like dual core Tegra 2 is already toppled from the top spot in just about a month! Things are heating up on the mobile front. May even decide to upgrade sooner as am tired of the low internal memory issues on the HTC desire that I have now. Is there any online calculator on three website that tells you what the penalty due will be for upgrading early to another handset. I prefer an online calculator rather than calling the upgrade team after my experience the last time around with them.

@Joel – thanks for the comment, it’s great to see other Three countries using videos as well. Think ours are slightly better though :-)

  15. Moderator: Kaz on February 15, 2011

@vinay – The LG optimus 3D has 8gb of internal memory.

  16. Joel on February 15, 2011

Brendan, your videoblogs have got some competition from 3 Sweden :)

@Peter – There is no confirmed launch date for the LG Optimus 3D just just. We will of course keep everyone updated.

  18. vinay on February 15, 2011

The specs look good but i would like to see the 3d effect in person in a three shop before even thinking of buying any 3d phone. battery life will be the key too, as no use having a race horse that runs out of breath after 10yards. Eagerly awaiting reviews by tech blogs. What is the space on the internal memory reserved for apps on this phone please?

  19. Peter on February 15, 2011

Can you tell us roughly when it will be getting released on three?

  20. stew on February 14, 2011

Hi johanna, no I’m not interested in this phone, however I may consider the optimus one if it drops in price. Failing that ill keep an eye on ebay.

  21. Moderator: Johanna on February 14, 2011

@Stew – We don’t have this kind of info I’m afraid Stew, but keep an eye on three.co.uk for pricing… Are you interested in this phone then?

  22. Mark (ISPr) on February 14, 2011

I haven’t upgraded my HTC Touch Diamond 2 phone in awhile because none of the new ones have been reasonably priced or offered any particular benefits above what I have already. However I have to admit that the notion of being able to take 3D pictures and playing 3D games or watch 3D videos has me hooked on this phone :) . I already have a 3D TV and they’re really good fun, despite the lack of content.

However I suspect that battery life and phone size may become a problem. Need to see the final specs.

  23. stew on February 14, 2011

Will we see the regular optimus one phone drop in price as a result of introducing this new phone?

  24. Michael on February 14, 2011

Crikey! Didn’t see this one coming to Three – looks great :)
