Sony Ericsson has just announced its latest smartphone, the ray. I’m really excited to let you all know that it’ll be coming soon to Three.
The ray’s super-sleek design has a 3.3 inch touchscreen which I think you’re all going to love. It also has a stylish 8.1 MP camera and is great for those of you who enjoy taking lots of pictures which can be tagged with your friends using Facebook Inside. For those of you who haven’t used it yet, Facebook Inside is a unique application which fully integrates Facebook throughout your Sony Ericsson phone. This means you can “Like” tracks from your music player and keep your phone and Facebook calendar synced so you’ll never miss a friend’s birthday again.
One of my favourite features that I think really stands the ray out from the rest is its ability to record HD video. This comes on Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine and produces some of the clearest, crispest quality recordings around. This is ideal for any frequent video uploaders who are always on the go, looking for the newest trends and fashions to put on the web.
As well as this, the ultraportable ray comes with a 1GHz processor which runs on Google’s latest operating system, Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This means the phone is super quick and ideal for people who want instant access to their messages and social networking.
The phone’s brand new and has only just been announced but we managed to get our hands on one to bring you a quick sneak-peek. Let me know what you think

Hey… when is the Xperia Ray available in Three store?!
Moderator: Sedge 20/09/2011
@ Kihon – We can’t confirm the pricing at the moment but the Galaxy W will be at a similar price point. We’ll let you know more on that phone when it’s available.
kihon 20/09/2011
Are any of the new phones similar to the ray? ie ginger bread, with front camera, flash capable, 800×480 screen and around £20? What price will the Galaxy W go for and when will it be available?
Thanks again.
Kihon

@ Kihon – Unfortunately we’re no longer ranging the Xperia ray but we’ve got some other great phones coming to Three so hopefully your wife will like one of those.
kihon 20/09/2011
Is there any update on this? I was looking forward to getting an Xperia Ray for my wife, as has a decent spec for a reasonable price. Are you likely to have anything similar? At the moment I can get this for roughly £20 pm from other networks, and am thinking of swapping unless there is a similar device available at three.

@Slavik – I’ve just had a chat to the devices team and they’ve said, “we’ve revisited our Sony Ericsson range, and are no longer bringing Xperia Ray in. However, we are bringing in some new exciting Sony Ericsson products soon so watch this space.”
Slavik 08/09/2011
Can you confirm status of the SE Ray?
It should be available in September, but disappeared instead from 3 web-site!
Very disappointing move by 3, I hope this is just an error.
Do you have any explanations?

The Sony Ericsson Ray has disappeared from Three’s web site page listing phones ‘Coming Soon’. It’s not on the main web site yet either as being available to customers.
Where has it gone? Have Three decided not to add this phone to their list available to customers, or has SE delayed the release date ??

Is this handset not just a smaller version of the Arc. the specs are the same in terms of hardware and software. The only difference being the 3.3″ screen. Seems a bit pointless to range with other handsets the same spec.

@Tzara – There are no pricing or release dates just yet on the SE Xperia ray. Please keep an eye on our coming soon page for more updates.
Tzara 30/06/2011
I’ve been waiting for a small handset to replace my hero and this looks like a good candidate.
Do you have any details on prices and what deals will be available for upgrade?
also when is it due – I’ve been out of contact for a couple of months now, so hope its not too long a wait.
Moderator: Sedge 23/06/2011
@ AJE – It looks great doesn’t it
Unfortunately Nokia have made no statement on price or availability at this time. We’ll let you know more when we can.
AJE 23/06/2011
Off topic but related to introducing new phones, I’ve just read that Three Sweden will be offering the upcoming NOKIA N9. Do you know whether Three UK will be doing likewise. It really does look like a very good phone indeed. (OK, I know I’m a loyal NOKIA fan but the N9 has truly generated a lot of column inches of praise.)
Moderator: Sedge 23/06/2011
@ Raymond – Unfortunately we’re only Three in the UK, you’ll need to get in touch with Thee Indonesia to see if they’re ranging Xperia ray
Raymond 23/06/2011
will this also available at three indonesia?

I’m glad Sony Ericsson having gone with the trend of massive screen sizes with this Ray phone.
Bigger isn’t always better!
Have yet to try out the Facebook integration Sony Ericsson promised a while back. I have to admit, I do prefer the software integration.
