Since we introduced the UK’s first Mobile WiFi (MiFi) device a couple of years ago, it’s been one of our most popular products. Our customers have loved how easy it is to use and that you can connect any WiFi device. We’ve been working hard to improve MiFi and are delighted to be announcing the launch of the next generation MiFi, the UK’s only one to feature the latest HSPA+ technology for faster downloads. The even better news is that you can get it right now in your local 3Store. Existing Pay Monthly Mobile Broadband customers who are eligible to upgrade can call 500 from a Three handset or 0843 373 0500 from a landline, to hear what offers are available.
This new device has significantly increased speeds, improved ease of use and a handy charging cradle. For anyone not familiar with MiFi, it’s a portable gadget that creates a secure personal WiFi hotspot for up to 5 devices to share. So whether you want to connect your kids’ games machines to keep the peace in the car, or power your laptop and your iPad at home on the sofa from a single connection, the MiFi is the ideal choice.
The new MiFi offers speeds that are up to 40% faster than they were before, and it’ll only get faster as we continue to upgrade our network during the rest of the year. We’re the only UK network offering an exclusive range of HSPA+ devices, all available on PAYG or contract with the largest data allowances in the market, which is why we think that we’re the best choice for Mobile Broadband.
We’ve also worked hard to make the new MiFi even easier to use. There’s now a button on the side that will display your WiFi security key on the screen, making it easier for you to connect devices but still offering industry-standard security – something you can’t always be sure of when using public WiFi hotspots.
Also in the box, we’ve added a new charging cradle, so once you’ve found the best spot in the house you can simply pop your MiFi into it. When you’re out and about, the new MiFi has over 4 hours of battery life to keep all your devices connected.
If you haven’t tried MiFi before, now is the ideal time – it’s the best of high speed next generation mobile broadband and WiFi in one handy gadget you can take with you or just use at home.
*Update: High speed Mobile WiFi is now available in a choice of Black or White.

@Paul – Hi there, the manufacturer released a new software update yesterday which unrestricts the NAT type. You can download it here
Any update on sorting out the strict NAT type on Xbox live via the new MIFI? it seems to be taking forever to get this fixed, and to think the guy in the 3 shop promised me that it would work flawlessly with an open NAT type when i took out the contract….. very sneaky!!
internet connection is instantly quick both on laptop & iPhone so I’ve no issues there its just this NAT type!!!! on Xbox
its as easy as changing a few settings on standard routers so why is it so difficult for you guys to fix on MIFI.
answers please!!!!!!
@Ryan – if you wish to cancel your contract call 333 (from a Three phone) or 0843 373 3333 to discuss.
@Karen O – Hi there, yep the MiFi device will allow you to connect up to 5 wireless devices to it at the same time, so it’ll do both your iPad and laptop (presuming your laptop is wireless) Thanks
Is my comment just going to be ignored then? Can you PLEASE give me the contact number of a department who can cancel my contract as 3 are obviously in breach of it.
I currently have a 3 dongle to use with my laptop as we do not have broadband in house. We are about to get an ipad through work . If I upgrade to a MiFi will this suffice to connect the ipad to internet?? or will it be necessary to get broadband in our house?
Thanks
@chelle – Your should be able to connect to five wireless devices at one time. I suggest that you either give us a call on 0843 373 333 or pop into your local Three store and explain the situation, someone will be able to assist you.
yesterday got mifi dongle. stated i wanted it as broadband – have no landline (or landline broadband) that i wanted to be able to print wirelessly from laptop, or my smart phone (onto wireless printer) & send stuff from mobile to laptop. Stated only been using a 3 dongle in my laptop or mainly my mobile (on orange). cant get anything to link, but its used approx 5mb & says its connected (says got internet access on laptop but wont do internet explorer (any homepage), says printing from mobile then cancels nearly immediately.
Disabled so cannot stay on phone for ages as end up confused, can you give any help or do i just presume its been mis-sold & return asap. Ta
neil – If you click here, you’ll find our latest blog post about the future of our network.
we need 4G why do we not have it in this country yet ???
@James – Hi there, yep you’d need a MiFi device to allow this. We’re working with the manufacturer at the moment to open up the ‘NAT’ ports to make the online gaming possible across all games.
If you read down the thread it says that work on the masts in my area would be finished by may 4th. I dont expect faultless service! I would like my internet to be available more than 5% of the day. AS I HAVE ALREADY STATED, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE FEBRUARY!! PLEASE STOP FOBBING ME OFF AND GIVE ME THE CONTACT INFORMATION OF SOMEONE WHO CAN CANCEL MY CONTRACT ON THE BASIS THAT 3 HAVE BEEN EFFECTIVLEY STEALING MONEY FROM ME.
@Ryan – Unfortunately no network can guarantee a continuously faultless service but we do work hard on maintaining our network and when any issues are identified we work closely with our servicing company to ensure these are fixed asap.
Sorry to hear you’re having issues with your coverage. What postcode is this in (don’t worry we won’t publish it) and I’ll check your coverage to see if there are any improvements coming up.
@Jim Black – Hi there, you’d need to discuss the possibility with our upgrades team – they can be contacted on 08433730500 or 500 free from a Three phone. With regards to upgrading you’d be required to pay the remaining charges on your current contract in order to upgrade early. Another possibility would be to buy the MiFi device as a standalone product and use your current dongle sim card in it
Hi, just a quick question (apologies if the answer is on the site) but like Janis Young I have a mobile dongle on a 15gb month contract and it’s perfect for my laptop use. But I am also interested in getting my xbox online, do you think a dongle is a suitable option for doing so? (this mifi with 5 connections at once sounds good) but I know xbox live takes large amounts of data. Thanks,
Well it is now the 5th of May and I still have appauling service from three. It has taken me 7 attemps to load this one website up. So I ask once again how can I cancel this contract as three are obviously in breach of it. I also dont care if the masts are taking longer than expected. That is not my problem. I have had connectivity problems since February.
PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT USE 3!! THEY ARE HAPPY TO TAKE YOUR MONEY BUT WILL NOT DELIVER WHAT THEY ADVERTISE!!
I have not long changed to a 2 year contract dongle, can i up grade to the mifi.
thank you
Jim Black
@nygel – Hi there, we always publish comments unless they were abusive or contained foul language.
Unfortunately faults do occur with masts. This is inevitable. When we do have an issue we always work hard to rectify these asap but as you can imagine the time it takes can depend on what the fault is, if site visits are needed, if the landlords & building owners require a certain period of notice, if new equipment is required and other comms companies need to attend. We are not in breach of contract if faults do occur and we cannot maintain a continuous service – check out ‘Limitation of Three Services’ and ‘Disruption to Three Services’.
If you could please supply your full postcode (we won’t publish it) I’ll be able to check your local mast and what’s happening with the current works.
i have had my mifi device since jan 2012 and all i have had is problem after problem and have spent the best part of april without any internet conection i have been constantly phoning 3 over this mater and have been given the run around every time i phone them i have heard every excuse you can think off from annaul service, brocken cable to mast upgrade i told three that i was holding them in breach of contract as they havn’t supplied the service that i was paying for and woul;d be stopping all direct debits as i have more than one account and with in a couple of days of them not recieving there money they diconnected my broadband which i think is totally unexceptable as it is there equipment at fault i carried on talking to three about this matter and they finally agreed to credit my accounts and reconnect my broadband which they done but then tonight all of a sudden they disconnected another one of my accounts so i am now not going to carry on with the contracts as they are still inbreach of there contract with me as i was told that this would not happen again i have sent them emails through there complaints procedure where they say that they will phone me with in 72 hours i am still waiting over 7 days later
PS EVEN THIS SITE DONT WANT TO PUBLISH MY COMMENT

@Janis Young – Sounds like a MiFi would be the perfect option as you can connect up to 5 devices at one time. If you are eligible for an upgrade it’s best to give our upgrades team a call on 0843 373 333 to check your options.
@katie – The MiFi is available on PAYG or contract. It can be purchased online, over the phone (0843 373 333) or pop into your local Three store. More details can be found here.
hi im just woundering how i apply for this wifi thing could u kindly reply bk in ainbox thanks
I have a mobile dongle (Three) and am considering buying an iPad for out and about. However I still need to use my laptop at home to get online. So I need to have something that will do both. Can you say whether the MIFI is the best way forward and will do the job or what other options would there be. My contract is for 15mb / month and I understand that I can upgrade – how can I check this?
@ Kerrin – Please could you send through your full postcode so we can look into this for you?
unable to connect laptop or phone to mifi today lu5 area but both working on all other wifi conections, please help, is there a problem in this area
@Ryan – I’ve had a look and I can see your two nearest masts are currently having some work done, completion set for May 4. So yes this will explain the issues you’re having during peak times.
@martin ellis – Glad you like
My postcode is HU7[removed by mod]. I have had a message a couple of months ago regarding maintenance. Does this explain how my device works fine in off-peak hours and bearly connects on-peak?
very impressed with my wifi dongle just wish i could get more gb with my pay and go sim ..7gb is not enough for me
@Ryan – Sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your MiFi device. Could you send through your full postcode so we can take a look to see if there’s any maintenance work being carried out in your area that’s causing the slow speeds.
I have mad my MiFi device for around 4 months now. Have to say it was pretty pointless changing from a dongle because unless you plug it into your laptop or PC it struggles to stay connected.
The second problem I encountered was about 5 weeks ago. The internet became painfully slow (buffering 2 min youtube clips for 5 mins). This simply is not acceptable. I would like to know how I can leave this contract as it simply is not delivering what is advertised.
3 cannot use the excuse that the device may be faulty either because if I go on the internet at 6am it works fine. Quite frankly 3 are just picking up £16 pound a month out of my account for something they are not delivering or even close to delivering.
@Yvonne Miller – With a MiFi you can connect up to five devices at once so unlike the dongle you’ll be able to connect to your phone, WiFi printer and laptop (as an example!) all at the same time. Do you already have a dongle with us? If so, dependant upon where you’re at in your current contract you may be able to upgrade to our MiFi. Alternatively, there’s the possibility of buying the MiFi unit on Pay As You Go – you’ll be able to use your dongle SIM in your MiFi as they’re both Mobile Broadband SIMs. The prices of our MiFi vary on the variable, you can find all our prices here.
